Essential oils provide remedies to many ailments. Oils such as Tea Tree has antiseptic, antiviral and antifungal properties but is a non-irritant and gentle enough to use straight on the skin. Please note that most oils need to be diluted in a carrier oil before use.
If essential oils are used in skin and body care, carrier oils can also be moisturising, nourishing and protecting. Oils such as baby oil should not be used to dilute essential oils. Oils are extracted from various parts of plants (root, stem, flower, leaves, peel, bark, wood etc) and are soluble in alcohol, ether and other oils. Oils work directly on the chemistry of the body, via the skin and bloodstream. Aromatherapy is suitable for most people of all ages, treating many conditions such as - nervous disorders, i.e. depression, anger, stress and other related symptoms including headaches and insomnia.
Quality and purity of essential oils is vital. They should always be of top quality and extracted by an approved method. Pure oils should not be applied directly to the skin or be swallowed. Some oils should be avoided by pregnant women.
